Bed & Breakfast in Australia
Australians are offered a great number of accommodation choices from traditional hotels (ie pubs) to luxury city hotels, backpackers to motels. Bed and Breakfast accommodation is rather special - although no two B&Bs look or feel the same, the unique characteristics are always there: great accommodation with wonderful breakfasts, and terrific value and with the special characteristic that stands out from all others, a warm welcome with personal service. B&Bs are to be found almost anywhere - in the heart of our cities to isolated stations in the centre of Australia. They range from the modest to the luxury, the busting to the oases of calm. You may stay in a comfortable elegant country home and share a fine breakfast with welcoming hosts or be treated as a private guest in your own suite and private pool overlooking the ocean.

Are B&Bs for me?

Yes, of course!

B&Bs are for everyone. They come in all sizes, shapes and styles. There are almost as many variations on the Bed & Breakfast theme as there are B&Bs.

Where can I find a B&B?

B&Bs are found everywhere and all over Australia.

You will find B&Bs in the most unusual of places as well as those places you really needed accommodation but never would have expected to find it. It is one of the many unexpected as well as delightful aspects of travelling the B&B way. Being small they do not need to be located in commercial areas, along major highways or in the centre of large cities. Be alert, and you will find B&Bs in most places.

Tell me about B&B hosts.

Australia is a wonderful country and our B&B hosts are some of the best ambassadors for sharing their 'local knowledge' with you. If you want to find, that secluded beach, the breathtaking walk through the bush (forest) or the best local restaurant you need go no further than your affable B&B host.

Your host can be your hotel manager, chef and concierge all rolled into one. Not to mention waiter, room service and tour director.

Many B&B hosts opened their B&B businesses because they have travelled extensively themselves. They like people, understand service and value and wish to share that special Australian hospitality with others.

What other questions should I ask about staying in a B&B?
Travelling the B&B way is a great way to travel and moreover a great way to see Australia. After you have planned your journey and selected your B&B you may still find you still have a few questions to ask. Below are a few of the most frequently asked questions (FAQ’s). If you still have further questions e-mail us outlining your concerns.

    • Alternative Lifestyles

Many B&Bs will welcome guests with different values or alternative lifestyles to their own. The charm and welcome would quickly disappear, however, should there be a conflict between the hosts and the guests. Advise your host when when making a reservation if this is a concern to you.

    • Amenities

Many B&Bs pride themselves in offering all sorts of special features to ensure your stay is both memorable and enjoyable. You may find a swimming pool in the garden or bikes to burn off those extra calories from breakfast. Some B&B hosts can tempt you with gourmet dinners, or take you on a tour around the local vineyards. There may be a charge for these additional amenities or activities. Always check with your host the availability and any applicable charges for additional features.

    • Arrivals/Departures

If unsure, ask your host when booking.

    • Cancellation Policy

You will find many B&Bs offer a clear booking and cancellation policy. This makes good sense, particularly if you need to cancel. For short stays you may need to pay in advance, some hosts accept a deposit by credit card others may request you to send a cheque. When booking it’s good to ask how much deposit is due, when full payment is required and what the cancellation policy is.

    • Children

Children can enjoy the B&B experience as much as adults whether on a farmstay or in a city B&B. Listings show details of accommodation where children are welcoming. Many other B&Bs welcome children but prefer you to make enquiries first.
